(formerly MacFayden, nee Maguire)
October 25, 1918 - April 10, 2021
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother. She passed peacefully at her daughter’s home, surrounded by her family, on April 10th, 2021 in her 103rd year.
Anne will be deeply missed by her daughter Mary, son-in-law Clive, and daughter Maureen. She will also be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Rebecca (David Peca) and Jonathan, as well as her great-grandchildren Trinity and Skylar.
Mom always believed she would be reunited in heaven with her beloved son Robbie, her first husband Robert MacFayden, second husband Patrick McNamara and other cherished people who passed before her.
Anne was born in County Fermanagh, Ireland during the Spanish Flu, and was raised by her “Ma” and three older siblings, Maggie, Jamie and Attie (all now deceased). Growing up on a small farm in Derrylin was not easy in those times but her mother never complained (a trait Anne inherited).
Anne moved to England where she trained as a nurse during WW2. While there she met her husband Robert MacFayden, a soldier in the Toronto Scottish Regiment. They married in England and Anne came to Canada as a war bride.
She continued her nursing vocation for over fifty years, in Scarborough, Ontario where she resided and raised their three children.
After Bob passed away, she married Patrick McNamara and joined the McNamara clan. She will also be mourned by her step- children Jack (deceased) (Lynn), Michael (Catherine) and Jeannie. Never forgotten by all the McNamara grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Remembered by her families in Ireland, the United States, and Canada, many of whom attended her 100th birthday party.
She will also be mourned by the MacFayden family. Especially her sister-in-law Janet and the many other family members with whom she enjoyed sharing monthly family lunches.
Anne will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, and a host of dear friends and neighbours. She was known to many as Maw, Mrs. Mac, Granny, Mother Anne and Auntie Anna. Once you met her, you never forgot her.
Her Viva family, where she made many friends during her seven years there, share in the loss of Anne. She will be dearly missed by her tall beloved Scotsman, Ian Lockhart. Her constant loving companion.
Anne was a patient and loving woman. She treated everyone she met with kindness; we ask in her memory to please raise a “Parting Glass” to this one-of-a-kind lady.
Anne will be laid to rest on April 15th 2021. A funeral mass will be held at St. Isaac Jogues Parish followed by internment at Pine Hills Cemetery, Toronto. Due to Covid-19 protocol, the Mass and burial are by invitation only. Please see the live webcast, and click on the link at the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Deohaeko Support Network (Deohaeko.ca) or a charity of your choice.
