(Nee Huish)
Patricia passed peacefully at Trilogy Nursing Home in Scarborough in her 85th year following a brave fight of 2 ½ years from illnesses brought on by a debilitating stroke she suffered in 2014. Pat was predeceased by her beloved husband Alan (2008) and her loving son Peter (1998).
Pat is survived by her grandson Gavin Hamlin and daughter-in-law Linda Hamlin of Brampton, sister-in-law Irene Rigg & family of Mission, B.C., brother-in-law Peter Hamlin and his wife Lois of Oshawa, niece Debbie Hamlin & family of Ottawa and niece Diane Hollywood & family of Bowmanville. She is also survived and remembered by the Hamlin and Huish families located in Essex County, London and surrounding areas in England.
Born in London, England Pat immigrated to Canada in February, 1968 with her husband Alan and son Peter. Settling into the Canadian way of life, Pat worked in varied capacities of clerical work and Alan as an elevator mechanic for Otis Elevators. The family ultimately settled in Scarborough in an area they called home. Life was planned around family activity and yearly vacations, often times to the U.K. catching up with family there.
In retirement Pat volunteered for many years at Rouge Valley Centenary Hospital mainly in the cancer screening area where she was recognized for her dedicated years of service. She also volunteered in the Grade 2 class at George B. Little Public School as a Teacher’s Assistant for six years and was loved by all the children as well as the staff. At other times Pat could be found at Birkdale Community Centre, enjoying various activities such as "granny bowling" as she liked to tell her grandson.
Our sincere thanks are expressed to the Trilogy Long Care Nursing Home. The loving care, kindness and total professionalism given to Pat for two-plus years has been outstanding. Patricia's family believe she is again reunited with the man she married and her son. She will forever be missed.
Friends and acquaintances are welcome to join us in remembrance of Pat on Friday, August 12, 2016 – 4:00 to 8:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Pat made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, Canadian Cancer Society or Canadian Diabetes Association would be greatly appreciated.
A private memorial for family will be scheduled at a later date.
