Peacefully at Chartwell Trilogy in Toronto, ON, on Saturday February 18th, 2023 at the age of 83 years. Jeff was a devoted husband of 50 Years to Marilyn B. Lind. Loving father of Heather Anne Lind and the late Andrew J. Lind. Devoted brother to Ian Burns Lind and the late Colin Burns Lind.
Jeff was a hard worker in the clerical department at Ernst and Young. He was a proud graduate of Upper Canada College and even more proud to be a member of the “Old Boys Club”. As a devoted father he found time to build an ice rink in the backyard for several years so Andrew and Heather could learn to skate with their friends. He then took them to play hockey on weekends with his colleagues and go for pancakes. In the summer months you could find him playing catch with Heather on the street during baseball season.
He was known to have a joke or riddle for almost anything, including every day of the week. His knack of useless trivia was infinite along with key points in history. His passion for trains was always incorporated into his life and he knew every single fact about Canadian Railroads. Although Jeff was diagnosed with dementia over 7 years ago, it did not create major difficulties until the last year and half. Although the disease progressed dramatically in the last year, we were very fortunate that he never forgot the ones he loved.
The family will receive friends at Giffen-Mack Funeral Home, 4115 Lawrence Ave E. West Hill, ON, from 5:30PM – 8:00PM on Friday February 24, 2023. Service in the Chapel, Saturday, February 25, 2023 11:00AM. Interment Mount Pleasant Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations in his memory to the Alzheimer Society of Canada, 20 Eglinton Ave West 16th Floor, Toronto, ON M4R 1K8 to continue their research on Dementia, or to a charity of one’s choice.
