Robert J. McBride (Bob) passed peacefully at Cedarbrook Lodge on March 7th, 2026 after a long battle with Parkinson’s. Lovingly survived by his wife of 68 years Fern (Cook), his sister Joan (Gord); and predeceased by his sister Emily, brother Ken, and brother Bill. Bob is survived by son Scott (Tara), daughter Lisa, (Bill), son Kevin, (Liz). Papa to granddaughter Bailey (Andrew), grandsons Dalton, Brady and Trevor. Great-grandsons Carter and JJ. Bob was born in London, Ont in 1935, and moved to Scarborough while working with IBM in 1969. He will be remembered as a man who built his life on meaningful relationships—whether at work, where colleagues became lifelong friends, on the golf course, or at home, where family was always his greatest pride.
He found joy in life’s simple and lasting traditions: sunny trips to Florida, laughter-filled days at the cottage, and the quiet happiness of being together. He had a way of bringing people close, making everyone feel welcome, valued, and part of something special. His legacy lives on in the connections he nurtured, the memories he created, and the laughter we all shared whenever we were in his presence. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew him.
