Thomas Winifred Augustine was born on December 19, 1954 in India. He was affectionately known as Tom by all of his family and friends.
The family of Tom would like to announce that he went to be with the Lord on March 24, 2022 at 9:00 in the evening. He was the loving husband of Misbah Augustine, beloved father of Peter and Jeremy Augustine, cherished grandfather (Thatha) of Gabriel Augustine, precious brother of Prabha Francis, and dear father-in-law of Shelanne Augustine.
In 1972, Tom emigrated to Canada with his parents, Christopher and Chandra, and his sister Prabha. Tom attended Winston Churchill Collegiate Institute and studied Computer Programming at Ryerson University. He entered the workforce at the young age of 21, and he was quick to show his industrious nature. He found his home at Sony as a Program Analyst, and he was a key member of the company for more than 30 years.
His love for travelling was sparked by his work trips, which took him all the way from Boston to California. After starting a family with his wife Misbah and two sons, Jeremy and Peter, Tom began a longstanding tradition of travelling the world and making new memories every summer vacation. Tom knew the best places to explore, and he was always prepared with his detailed itinerary in hand. By land, sea, or air, Tom took his family everywhere.
Tom was a God-fearing man who enjoyed showing God’s love through acts of service. He spent his spare time growing his faith through Christian programming and learning worship songs on his guitar. He always talked about God’s faithfulness in his life.
His orderly nature would always shine through his hobbies, which included carpentry and gardening. Tom enjoyed photographing his family in the great outdoors, and he took time to enjoy the world around him. He was also a reliable man who had a knack for fixing anything and everything.
In 2019, Tom was blessed with a grandson, Gabriel Augustine. One of his joys of being a grandfather was showing Gabriel the plants that he grew, and he cherished the time of bonding they had.
To all the friends, extended family, and church members who have reached out during this difficult time, we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude for your love, support, and prayers.
The funeral service is set to take place on Saturday, April 2 at 10:15am. Following the service, Tom will be laid to rest at St. Margaret’s in the Pines Cemetery in Scarborough. To those who knew Tom, the family encourages you to share his impact on your life on this page.
