Now that I am older, I recognize in my Uncle William, who was a police officer, that certain something that police academies throughout the world, desperately try to teach. That something is " command presence".  As a child, if you were caught doing something that you were not supposed to, he would quietly ask, " what are you doing?". The answer was inevitably, " I don't know". Then with a big smile, and a slight inflection of tone, he would say, " well, if you don't know, then why are you doing it? To which there was no sensible answer. After that, he quietly led you to greener pastures. I learnt a lot from that. A suggestion when you're asked a question by a Langevine. It might serve you well, if you focus less on the big ole smile, but focus more on tge question asked. Lesson learnt Uncle William.

My GrandFather the Late William Langevine was a great man. Always full of life and wisdom.  I remembered when he told me the story of how he met his wife the Late Clara E. Langevine.  The joy and the tactics with his encounter this beautiful woman he met for the first time and exactly that moment when he said “I got her “. He knew he had a woman of God’s heart.  He reminded me every visit how to save and budget.  He was definitely a man of God , he would give stories so they can be analyzed and the lesson would be one to hold unto for a lifetime. He loved his children and his grandchildren they were a joy to his heart. He invested in each one of us. He always thought about us. I remember moments when I graduated from medical school and also starting my Job , he said good work son make a name for yourself your grandfather is proud! He did fight a good fight, a batsman on 99! Bowled by death, fell short of 100 but guess what victorious because not by the score but by the impact he had on the game called life( blessing to his family, friends and anyone who interacted with him). Rest In Peace GrandFather!

We are related to the Langevines through our father, Albert Jessemy, son of Ivy Jessemy, and grandson to Mrs Prowell....who herself was a Langevine;   so we also mourn your loss.  Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.  May his soul rest in peace.


My Uncle William Langevine  as long as I can remember with that pleasant and glowing smile  As a little girl  Uncle William will come and visit his mother in Den Amstel and always walk with few of his children to see their grand mother, that the time I get to  meet my cousins , it was wonderful time counteracting with them and always bring candy and gave us money. After my Grand Mother died and we moved to Georgetown  he will still come to our house and there was always sweety and money , every body got from him
I remember daddy taking us to Linden to visit with him ,  he had a little house and then be built a new one
I remember spending some precious  time with him in the early 80's at his home in Linden  on vacation , sitting in the back porch  after he got home from work
I remember him at my cousins Ann wedding when I introduced him to  my  husband and his words to him " take good care of my Nice"  my husband still remembers his words   

Uncle William the eldest of my paternal uncles always greeted me with “How is the family”. 
His philosophy was the current generation should pave the way for the success of the next generation. 
My uncle relished the family gatherings which resulted in discussions with varied opinions, and being the elder statesman well versed in current affairs, gladly settled the disputes. 
As the saying goes uncle William will be missed but definitely not forgotten. 



 I remember 29 Yukuriba Street, the House where we lived in the Constabulary Compound, Mackenzie. I remember Mommy Lange cooking in the kitchen, having dinner with my brothers and sisters around the table. I remember the bunk beds we shared and slept in together. I remember Mommy Lange doing women’s hair in the parlor in the back. I remember taking care of the fowls and chickens. I remember playing in the front street; the swallows on the electric lines, the washer pond. 
     I remember Daddy Lange going to work early in the morning drinking his tea sluuurrrrppppp aaaaahhhhh. I remember Daddy Lange the provider, Sargeant, leader, disciplanarian, motorcycle policeman, protector, teacher, counselor, adviser, builder. Yes, I watched my Dad build a house from the foundation up. I watched my Dad save and protect an Indian man during the Wismar riots while I was in high school. Yes, I do remember!!
