The funeral service will be held at 12 noon at Holy Name of Jesus Church in West Palm Beach.
Ailsa was born on the island of Trinidad in the West Indies on January 5, 1933. She lost her Mom at the tender age of 3 and was raised primarily by her Grandmother and Aunt Enid. She graduated from St. Joseph’s Convent and then went to England (by boat) to pursue secretarial college. After receiving her degree she continued to live and work in England for a few years before returning to Trinidad.
Ailsa was married to John on August 30, 1962; they were married for 40 years.
Ailsa worked different jobs throughout her career, but her most important job came when she decided to take time off and be a stay-at-home Mom and do what she loved the most, raise her four children. She did this for 20 years.
She then moved to the US in 1988 and settled in Florida.
Her final job before retiring here in the United States was as a Receptionist at Fidelity Federal for about 5 years. She enjoyed meeting and greeting everyone on the floor, employee and customer alike, where everyone came to know her as “Mom”. As someone said the ‘she never met a stranger she did not know’.
Since retiring, she has been very busy visiting her children and grandchildren, and family and friends in Trinidad. She stayed active with the gym, tai chi classes, going to the movies and her monthly lunches with the Fidelity Federal “lunch bunch”. She never sat still. She loved to cook and was always sharing recipes with anyone willing to try their hand at a new dish, although at times she was known to keep the secret ingredient to herself.
Ailsa is survived by her children Roger (Wendy), Lee Jay (Brenda), Gina-Marie (Mark) and Christine (Cliff), her grandchildren, Tyler, Jordan, Morgan, Avery and Addison, her brother Keith, her nieces and nephews, and other family and friends.
Ailsa is preceded in death by her husband John and her sister Roma.
