Carl Dee Mangum

Carl was born in Durham, North Carolina, January 10, 1932 to the late Rodney P. Mangum and the late Evelyn Carmack. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his twin brother Earl Lee Mangum and beloved grandparents John A. Mangum, Sr. and Octavia Parker Mangum.

Carl was a graduate of Durham High School, in Durham, N.C. and received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Maryland. He had a distinguished thirty-year career with the United States Air Force serving in Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia. Carl and his beloved wife, Despina, resided in Greece and enjoyed traveling all over the world visiting family and friends.

Carl is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Despina Mangum, son, Rodney Mangum; daughter, Xanthie Mangum.

Visitation and funeral services will be held from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm, Friday, May 23, 2025, at Quattlebaum Funeral, Cremation and Event Center, 5411 Okeechobee Boulevard, West Palm Beach, Florida 33417. Committal Service with Full Military Honors will be held at the South Florida National Cemetery, 6501 FL-7, Wellington, Florida. Father Chrysostom Mitchell will be officiating.
