
Constance R. Giustizia was born in Brooklyn on January 23rd, 1923 grew up in Middle Village, Queens and lived in West Babylon, L. I., New York. She died on January 5th, 2017 in West Palm Beach, Florida @ Lourdes Noreen McKeen Towers
Constance got her B.A. from St. John’s University and Masters Degree from Fordham University and attended sever other institutions of higher learning. Constance taught Junior High Language Arts till retirement in l976. She spent her life time studying, teaching and learning new skills. She enjoyed singing, dancing, cooking and traveling. She was also interested in great Art, Literature, Poetry and History.
As a youngster she played several musical instruments by ear and was involved in many sports.
She was married almost 42 years to Salvatore F. Giustizia, a multi-talented College Professor who was her soul mate. He was a prolific writer, played guitar, sang, danced, had his own band and performed for many years at resorts, clubs in the Catskill Mountains, Summer Stock, on Radio, and the Cruise Lines. Constance did his administrative work, preparing manuscripts etc… for publication.
In addition to caring for Sal’s elderly father and teaching school, Constance became very involved in golf. She belonged to three Ladies Leagues and played competitively in Brooklyn, New Your State, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and several counties in Florida.
Late in life, at the age of 79, she decided to study music, something she never had time for during her early years. Since that time, she has been preparing musical arrangements on the Organ and recording songs for her friends and family’s entertainment.
Constance served as a Yeoman, First Class in the U. S. Navy during W.W.II performing administrative tasks and worked for Capt. Robert Quackenbush, Chief Operations Officer of the Atom Bomb Project with Joint Task Force One. She was an administrative assistant to Admiral Richard E. Byrd, the Antarctic Explorer, at the Navy Department in Washington, D.C. She received The American Area Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal and is entitled to The Good Conduct Medal
Constance is survived by her brother, Frank Powell, her four nieces, her two nephews, her great niece, her four great nephews, her three great grand nieces, and her five great grand nephews
Memorial Mass will be Wednesday, January 18th, 2017 @ 11:00 am St. Joseph’s Chapel in Lourdes Noreen McKeen Towers. Internment will immediately follow in South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth, FL.
