Dorothy Jane Maio

Dorothy was born in Tarrytown, New York to James and Dorothy Ledwith on June 23, 1928. She married Adolph Maio on May 13, 1951 in Greenwich, CT.

In July of 2024, Dot moved to South Florida to be closer to family, and quickly adjusted to the change in lifestyle. She spent her last years watching her great grandkids in their ventures, going to meals and outings with her grandkids, many ice cream stops with her son in law and soaking in the sun with her daughter. Though she loved living in Florida she still spent much of her time reminiscing on her years in New York and cheering on the Yankees. She never failed to light up the room with her love for everyone she met and ability to bring light to any situation. Her memory will be carried on by everyone who had the privilege to be in her presence.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy and James Ledwith and her brother James Ledwith and her husband Adolph Maio.

Dorothy is survived by her daughters Wendy (Peter) Heanue and Debra (Charles) Krupp, her grandchildren Jennifer (Owen) White, Jonathan (April) Heanue, Christopher (Laura) Krupp and Erik (Julie) Krupp. Her memory will be carried on through her great grandchildren: Samantha (21), Addison (18), Austin (18), Colton (12), Aubrey (12) and Zoey (11).

The family of Dot wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the care staff at Bella Mar who became family over the last two years as well as the care team at Vitas Healthcare who stood by in her final days.
