Emilio was born on August 5, 1940, in New York to Andrea Diaz and was later adopted by George Diamantis. Emilio and his mother moved to West Palm Beach, Florida, when he was 17 years old. Young
Emilio had several jobs, including being a meat butcher and working at a gas station. It was at that gas station that his future wife, Sharon, visited, and he fell head over heels instantly. On August 28, 1966, they married and embarked on what would be a five-decade life together. In that time, they welcomed two children who later married amazing spouses and blessed them with four incredible grandchildren.
Emilio went into law enforcement and spent most of his 20-year career at the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Department, retiring as a Detective Lieutenant in 1983. He then became a Paralegal Investigator for 30 years, spending most of that time working for his long-time friend Jack Scarola.
In 1986, inspired by his son going to college, Emilio decided he wanted his bachelor’s degree and attended Barry University at night while working full time; he graduated with honors in1990.
Emilio was involved with many organizations, including helping launch The Lord's Place, The Kiwanis Club, where he served as Major Emphasis Chairman (1991-1992) and Lt. Governor (1992-1993), and Leadership Palm Beach County in 1995. He became a Mason in 1998. He was involved with several other organizations he cared about deeply, but one truly grabbed his heart. After several trips to Guatemala, and years dedicated to The Guatemalan-Maya Center of Lake Worth, Emilio came to love and cherish the Guatemalan people and their community. So, in lieu of flowers, we ask for donations to be directed there in his memory.
Emilio is survived by his wife, Sharon; his son, Chris; daughter-in-law, Andrea; his daughter, Andrea; son-in-law, Matt; and four grandchildren whom he adored: Nikki, Jake, Emme, and Mariana.
His family will receive visitors on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM, followed by a service and celebration of life from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Quattlebaum Funeral, Cremation and Event Center, 5411 Okeechobee Blvd, West Palm Beach, FL 33417.
