Estella Rivero McKeough, 68, of West Palm Beach, FL, passed away on January 14, 2019. She was born on August 19, 1950 in Havana, Cuba into the loving arms of her parents, Estela Esteve Rivero and Nicolas Rivero. They lived an idyllic life surrounded by a close family of many cousins, aunts, and uncles. "Estelita" started school at Sacred Heart in Havana. When the family left Cuba in 1960 they settled in Palm Beach County and she attended St. Juliana Catholic School then Cardinal Newman High School, graduating in 1969. She received an Associate degree in Early Childhood Education from Sante Fe College in Gainesville, FL in 1976. She worked in the classroom always delighting and being delighted by young children. Estella is survived by her son, Carlos Portela (Kandice), and her grandson, Logan Portela, of West Palm Beach; her sister, Sylvia Stewart (Duncan) of Stuart, FL; her nieces Christina Reip and Lillian Reip both of Seattle, WA; numerous Esteve and Rivero cousins; and by many very good friends of many years. She was predeceased by her long time partner, “Mickey" Oenbrink, one year ago, her mother two months ago, and by her father in 1998. They will be reunited in Heaven.
There will be a funeral Mass at St. Juliana Church on Saturday, February 2 at 2PM with a Celebration of Life to follow at the Lake Worth Golf Club.
