Fernando De Souza Ferreira

Fernando was born September 21, 1979 in Lima, Peru to his father Fernando “Anibal” and mother Hermith Desouza. Fernando migrated to New York City in 1996 and later enlisted in the United States Army in July of 1999, continuing his service until June of 2006. During his tour of duty, Fernando achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant and completed two tours, Iraq (2003-2004) and Afghanistan (2005-2006). During his time in the military, Fernando received several commendations to include a Purple Heart and Army Commendation with Valor.

Upon completing his time in the military, Fernando graduated the Police Academy in June 2007 and became a Police Officer with the West Palm Beach Police Department in 2007. During his 16 years as an officer in West Palm Beach, Fernando received many commendations for his exceptional police work and service to the community. He served in many different units within the department, to include the Entertainment District Unit (EDU) and Community Response Team (CRT). In October 2017, Fernando was promoted to the rank of Sergeant.

While dedicating his time to the community of West Palm Beach, Fernando managed to find time to attend Palm Beach Atlantic University where he graduated in December 2011 with a degree in Organizational Management. Fernando continued his education at Palm Beach Atlantic University where he graduated in August 2013 with a Master’s Degree in leadership.

Fernando was blessed with becoming a wonderful father to Gabriella, Angela, and Daniel. He is survived by his three children, his beloved parents, his sister and seven brothers. Fernando loved his family and friends tremendously. He was a true friend to all who knew him and all who had the great pleasure to know him loved him. Fernando will be dearly missed. His life will always be remembered and serve as an inspiration to us all.

A visitation for Fernando will be held Thursday, August 10, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Quattlebaum Funeral, Cremation and Event Center, 5411 Okeechobee Blvd, West Palm Beach, FL 33417. A funeral service will occur Friday, August 11, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at Family Church Downtown, 1101 S. Flagler Drive, West Palm Beach, FL 33401. A committal service with full military honors will occur Friday, August 11, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at South Florida National Cemetery, 6501 S SR 7, Lake Worth, FL 33449.
