

Gleason Noah Stambaugh, Jr, “Snooky”, joined his beloved high school girlfriend and wife, Frances Mayhew Stambaugh, his parents, Gleason N. and Margie Hilton Stambaugh, his brother, Dr. Reginald J. Stambaugh, his grandson, Michael S. Butler and his Savior on April 6, 2015.
Born August 17, 1927, West Palm Beach, FL. He attended all 3 schools “On The Hill”, graduating from Palm Beach High, Class of ’44, who still gather for yearly reunions! He was Palm Beach High School track team captain and State of FL champion in the 200 yd. low hurdles. Snooky attended Georgia Tech until he transferred to U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, May, 1945. He married Frances Mayhew, former Miss West Palm Beach, (and the long kept secret) on September 20, 1946 in Nassau County, FL. He attended Palm Beach Community College and played on their first baseball team.
In 1946, he started working with his dad (founder) at Florida Music Co. 1960-71 he was President of Florida Music Co. He was passionate about serving his clients. “The costumer is always right!” Snooky did not hesitate to help customers/friends at any time of the day or night. In 1972 he created Stambaugh Realty and had a successful practice for 17 years.
He truly loved WPB and the people. He lived all but three years of his life one mile north or south of Southern Blvd. He served as President of the Palm Beach County Georgia Tech Alumni Association, President of Palm Beach County SAE Alumni Association, Founder and President of Tropada Club (Tropical Party and Dance) and Preident. of the West Palm Beach Jaycees (Jr. Chamber of Commerce). With membership over 400, they won the Howard Award for outstanding chapter in the USA. Also President of the American Heart Association of Palm Beach County, President of the Greater West Palm Beach Chamber of Commerce, Board Member of the National Foundation March of Dimes, and a Board Member of Northwood Kiwanis Club. He served 9 years on the West Palm Beach Civil Service Board.
He is survived by Betty Vann (Eddie) and Joy Stone (Ken) who have been blessed to call him Dad; three grandchildren, Holly Oates (Andrew), Shannon Stahl (Erik), Kyle Stone (Jennifer); and eight great grandchildren, Hannah Joy, Will Noah, Grace, Lilly, Kate, Ryder Gleason, Ella, and Stone.
Many will remember him as the man dressed in white walking his ‘big white’ dog on Flagler Drive every morning for over 50 years.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, April 10, 2015, 1:00 p.m. at The National Croquet Center, 700 Florida Mango Road, West Palm Beach.
