70 years old, of Ocala, FL passed away peacefully in West Palm Beach, on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, surrounded by her family. Glenda was born and raised in West Palm Beach, the daughter of Earl and Phyllis Quattlebaum. She attended St. Ann Elementary School and was a graduate of Cardinal Newman High School, Class of 1973. She went on to earn an associate of arts degree at Webster College in 1975. For several years Glenda worked as a secretary for various West Palm Beach businesses before meeting her future husband, Michael Houck. They were married in 1988 and soon after moved to Ocala, FL to begin their new life together. Glenda soon went to work for the Marion County Sheriff’s Office where she was a valuable employee for 33 years. She worked for five sheriffs in different departments within the agency. These included the Detective Bureau, the Forest District Office, The Drug Unit, the Dunnellon District Office, and finally, the Southwest District Office. She also enjoyed working closely with citizen volunteers in the southwest corridor such as Oak Run, Marion Landing, On Top of the World, Pine Run and others, including Southwest Citizens On Patrol. Glenda has received numerous commendations for assisting with investigations that have led to arrests. Her job of transcribing, reviewing and correcting reports, as well as her amazing memory, allowed her to connect older reports and enabled the investigating officer to close a case. She retired from the Sheriff’s Office in June of 2022.
Glenda was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Houck (2016), and her parents, G. Earl Quattlebaum (2007) and Phyllis Howley Quattlebaum (2021). She is survived by six siblings, Gale Q. Schiffman (husband, Steve), Gary E. Quattlebaum, Grace Q. Rich, Greg M. Quattlebaum (wife, Julie), Gerald E. Quattlebaum (wife, Lori), and Guy E. Quattlebaum (wife, Amy), as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Her family will receive friends at Quattlebaum Funeral , Cremation and Event Center, 5411 Okeechobee Blvd, West Palm Beach, FL. beginning at 2:00 PM on Sunday, August 16, 2026 with A Celebration of Life for Glenda to be held at 3:00 PM. Interment will take place at 1:00 PM. on Monday, August 17, 2026 at the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL .
