Harold J Fogel
June 23, 1918 – January 4, 2013
Harold J. Fogel, 94, passed away January 4, 2013 in the Jupiter Medical Center Pavilion, surrounded by his devoted family. He was born in 1918, the middle son of Anna and Hyman Fogel in Buffalo, NY. He graduated from Lafayette High School in three years with numerous records and medals in track. He attended the University of Buffalo and graduated in 1940 with a degree in Physics. There he met Jane Serns who was to become his wife of 70 years. They married in 1943 before he shipped overseas to serve in the Army, stationed in India. After the war, he and Jane settled back in Buffalo, where they raised two children, Jeffrey and Inez. He was a long time and active member of Temple Beth Zion in Buffalo. Following retirement to North Palm Beach, FL in 1978, he served on the board of the Old Port Cove Condominium Association for many years and enjoyed sculpting and sculpture classes at the Armory Art Center. He is survived by his devoted wife Jane, loving daughter Inez Fogel Heery and son-in-law Michael, son Jeffrey and daughter-in-law Miki, and adored grandchildren Rachel and Adam Heery. He was pre-deceased by brothers Chester and Charles Morton Fogel. He will be laid to rest at Star of David following a private graveside service. Donations in memory of Harold Fogel can be made to Jewish Family Services or Hospice of Palm Beach County.
