Helen graduated from Centenary College in New Jersey. She served as the President of the Alumni Association Chapter of Nassau and Suffolk Counties in New York for two years.
In 1953 Helen married Joseph V. Gelo, who preceded her in death. They had one daughter, Deborah Helen Gelo, who also preceded her death.
Helen assisted her husband Joe in their work at Knotts Pharmacy in Mineola, NY. The couple later moved to Marco Island, Florida and then Greensboro, NC. They started a music business, J & H Music, which syndicated music to radio stations nationally.
Helen is survived by her brother-in-law Val Gelo and his wife Dale, nephew Gary Gelo and niece Laura Gelo Simpson and nieces and nephews.
Interment will be at Westminster Garden Cemetery in Greensboro, NC.
