Adams was born on April 26, 1945, to Florence and Herbert Weaver in Lake City, FL. He was the older brother to Rafalar (Weaver) Lynch. He is survived by his wife Bonnie, daughter Kate, granddaughters Annie and Maggie, sister Rafalar, extended family, and many dear friends. He is preceded in death by his youngest daughter Krissie, and his parents, Florence and Herbert.
Adams grew up in Lake City with his sister and was raised by his mother and grandparents (Papa George and Mama Fay). He graduated from Columbia High School, where he was voted most likely to succeed; he went on to graduate from the University of Florida with both his B.A. and J.D. After law school, he went to work as an attorney for the Florida Department of Transportation in Tallahassee. Three years later, he was hired by the Palm Beach County Attorney’s office. He moved to West Palm Beach and into the Pavilion apartments, where he made many lifelong friends and hosted an “Elvis goes to Hawaii” party, at which he met his future wife Bonnie in 1972. They were married in 1974 and celebrated their 50th Anniversary in January. Adams joined the law firm of Johnston, Sasser, and Randolph in 1973, later to become Johnston, Sasser, Randolph, and Weaver. In 1988, the firm merged with Jones Foster, where Adams became a Senior Partner in the firm. He practiced law until his retirement in 2020. Adams was long considered a preeminent attorney in the areas of eminent domain and land use litigation.
Adams had a great sense of humor, a good heart, and an irreverent twinkle in his eye. He was a devoted Gator fan who was happiest on the Ichetucknee River. He lived by the adage of work hard, play hard, and shared his successes generously. But above all, he loved and treasured his family and close friends.
He will be missed dearly, but it’s a comfort to think of Adams and his youngest daughter Krissie, reunited again. We hope he and Krissie are catching up on all things orange and blue, with a coozie in one hand and a bag of boiled peanuts between them. We know they will be waiting to welcome us to the party in heaven, where Florida is always undefeated, and music and laughter are guaranteed.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 14th at 10:00 am at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 211 Trinity Place, West Palm Beach, FL, followed by a reception in the Parish Hall. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, www.holytrinitywpb.org, in Adams’ name.
