

The spirit of Howard Eugene Dunlap, 92, of West Palm Beach Florida flew away to glory on July 26, 2014. Howard was born on October 17, 1921 in Van Wert, Ohio and married Ruth Ellen Alspaugh on October 18, 1942. In 1949 he graduated from Fort Wayne Bible Institute in Fort Wayne IN.
After his ordination by The General Council of Christian Union, he served 12 churches in 3 states and 1 in Ecuador. Rev. Dunlap was the founding pastor for First Christian Union Church in Fort Wayne IN and Palms West Alliance in Loxahatchee FL. From 1978 to 1986 he served his Alma Mater as Alumni Director. Rev. Dunlap's life was defined by his love of family, the joy of music and his enduring call to the ministry.
He will be remembered as a loving family member and a compassionate minister with a talent for preaching and revitalizing churches.
His parents, Ira Emmett Dunlap and Alta May Kohn, and two brothers, Burl and Richard Dunlap, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife Ruth, his daughters, Judith K. Barr; Joyce E. Houser (Dick); Jeannie Hochstettler (Bill); sons, Jerry E. Dunlap (Ellen); James H. Dunlap (Michelle); twelve grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
Visitation at Quattelbaum Funeral Home, 5411 Okeechobee Blvd, West Palm Beach, on Friday, August 1, 6 pm. A celebratory service will be held on Saturday, August 2, 10 am at Palms West Alliance Church, 16401 Southern Blvd., Loxahatchee, FL 33470 with Pastor Randy Clark officiating. Pre-service viewing is at 9:30. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Palms West Alliance Church.
