

It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Jay Charles Preefer, 70, passed away on March 15, 2017. He is survived by his loving son, Zachary; his close twin brother Richard and wife Robbie Preefer; his niece Rachel Preefer Matta and her husband Jason; his caring sister Judy, her daughter Ella; and his dear sister Pamela Mathe, her husband Michael, and daughters Marielle and Margaux. Jay attended Palm Beach High, class of 1964, University of Georgia, class of 1969, and went on to serve in the Florida National Guard. He attended Cumberland School of Law, along with his twin brother, and practiced as an attorney for over forty years in Palm Beach County. Jay was known to many people throughout the community for various reasons, and was always an interesting person to have a conversation with around town. Jay opened many local restaurants and bars with his twin brother Richard and was an active antique collector. Many of his treasured finds can be seen on display at their most recent endeavor, Dixie Grill and Bar. Services will be held Sunday March 19, 2017, at noon, at IJ Morris at Star of David of the Palm Beaches, followed by a celebration of life at 1:30pm at Dixie Grill & Bar, 5101 S a Dixie Highway, West Palm Beach, Florida 33405.
