

Mariko Kiyokawa, age 94 of West Palm Beach, passed away July 14, 2016. Mariko was ahead of her time in her native Tokyo, Japan, she studied fashion design at Sugino Gakuen in Tokyo. Shortly after graduating, Mariko married her late husband Eisho Kiyokawa October 23, 1942. Together they had four wonderful children; Yukiko, Shoichi, Tatsuhide (Peter) and Mariko. During early 60's, Mariko came to New York to study at Parson's School of design. Afterwards, she taught designing and draping/patternmaking at French Fashion Academy. In October 1968 she opened her store "Mariko" on Madison Avenue. The business later moved to Palm Beach in January 1987 and soon after her daughter Mariko, reopened in New York.
Mariko has been a member of the St. Edward's Guild for many years and is remembered by her devotion to her church.
Mariko is survived by sons; Shoichi and Tatsuhide (Peter) Kiyokawa, and daughters; Yukiko (Takao) Oka and Mariko (John) Lazarov. She is also survived by grandchildren; Aiko Oka, Masaya Oka and John Lazarov, jr., and one great grandchild.
A memorial Mass will be held on Thursday July 28, 2016 at 10am, at St. Edward's Catholic Church in Palm Beach, followed by an inurnment at Our Lady Queen of Peace, West Palm Beach.
In lieu of flowers, family asks you donate to the St. Edward's Guild, since Mariko cherishes them so much.
