It is with great sadness that the family of Marilyn (Melody) Phillips announces her passing to heaven on December 23, 2013. Marilyn was born in Philadelphia and moved to California, before finally settling in Florida in the 1970's. Marilyn took great joy from her work with children at the Shriners Hospital and her 25 years of service with the Daughters of the Nile Aquarius Temple No. 138. She was passionate about her work for the Republican Party as both a fundraiser and an activist and also devoted her efforts to the Salvation Army, the Big Dog Ranch Rescue and the National Pen Women for Artists and Writers. Marilyn, known for her elegance, poise, generosity, fun-loving nature and irreplaceable smile will be deeply missed by both family and her large circle of friends. Her nieces, Karen Kaufman and Sheri Gordon look forward to greeting friends at a celebration of Melody’s life that will be held at 11:00 a.m., with a Masonic service at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, December 27, 2013 at Quattlebaum Funeral, Cremation and Event Center. A light lunch will immediately follow the service. Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Hospice of Palm Beach County, 5300 East Avenue, West Palm Beach, FL 33407 or The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 1415 Rte. 70 E., Suite 311, Cherry Hill, NJ, 08034.
