Regina L. Rossi passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on Thursday, January 20, 2022. Born in Pittsburgh, PA on March 1, 1965, she attended Penn Hills High School, where her father was principal, and was a graduate of Slippery Rock University. She received her BA in Accounting and later completed an MBA at the University of Pittsburgh. Known to her family as Gina, and friends and colleagues as Reg, she often bestowed fond nicknames on those with whom she spent time.
Gina was the beloved wife of James (Jim) Rosenwald. The couple was drawn together when they started their careers as auditors at S.R. Snodgrass. Always one to put others first, Gina tried to play Cupid for Jim, though soon it became clear that the two were meant to be together. Gina and Jim recently celebrated their 27th anniversary, and those who knew the couple could not find an example of a stronger or more compatible marriage. Gina was preceded in death by her brother, Patrick Rossi, and her father, Louis Rossi. She was the adored daughter of Margaret Rossi; dear sister of Mark (Maureen) Rossi and Rita (Jon) Martin; and devoted aunt of Julie (Rich) Doty; Ryan and Caitlan Rossi; Nathan Martin; Emily and Allison Waddell; and Cody, Colby, Cory, Colton and Connor Rosenwald.
Gina enjoyed profound friendships with her nieces and nephews, and was committed to the spiritual stewardship of her three godchildren. The cherished youngest daughter of a high school football coach, Gina gave a meaningful pep talk and felt genuine joy at the success of others. She was deeply connected to a wide community of friends who felt lucky to receive her constant support, hear her frequent laughter, and see her beautiful dimpled smile. Gina firmly believed in the importance of hard work, and spent over 30 years becoming a leader in finance and program management in consumer products, manufacturing and financial services.
She dedicated 18 years to PEPSICO, traveling abroad often to successfully manage a great number of bottler acquisitions and cross functional information technology projects. She went on to spend almost 10 years at BNY Mellon, where she continued to drive large-scale business and technology initiatives. Gina was a senior director at S&P Global and most recently worked in senior portfolio management at Eaton. Throughout her career she routinely extended opportunities to other professionals. Known for her outgoing personality, she was a natural leader and mentor who was incredibly well-liked and positively influenced countless people who crossed her path. One of Gina's most defining characteristics was her motivation to serve others in ways big and small.
A parishioner of St. Margaret Mary in Moon Township, Gina was a devout Catholic who sought and found ways to live out the virtues of her faith each day. She developed special connections with the Blessed Home Project, Leadership Pittsburgh, and Light of Life Rescue Mission. She never missed a chance to express her gratitude with a timely thank you note. Gina talked quickly, loved showtunes, and kept an early bedtime. She felt great calm in Florida, where she chose to pass her final days on earth restfully and with her signature positivity. Her example of hard work and service, steadfast faith, and boundless optimism will forever inspire all who knew her. Donations may be made to Blessed Home Project, PO Box 665, Moon Township, PA 15108 and Cancer Bridges, 2816 Smallman St., Pittsburgh, PA 15222.
