Robert was born in Philadelphia to Ethel & Joseph Britton on July 26, 1945. He went to high school at Lower Merion and graduated in 1963. He earned an undergraduate degree from Michigan State University in 1967 before earning his Juris Doctor from Villanova University’s School of Law in 1970. In 1972 he joined Post & Schell, a fledging law firm in Center City, Philadelphia; he would spend his entire 47-year career there before retiring as a Senior Partner and Board Member of the firm in 2019.
Robert is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Marsha Britton (nee Karlin), his sons Matthew (Ilana) Britton, Evan (Astineh) Britton, and Joseph Britton, and his grandchildren Ella, Cameron, Charlotte, Alexis, Liam, and Logan. He is preceded in death by his sisters Irene and Linda Britton and his parents, Ethel & Joseph Britton.
Bob was a fiercely loyal & dedicated man, not only to his legal profession but most importantly to his friends and family. He cherished mornings on the golf course with his crew, long Sunday night talks with his sister Irene and his inner circle of lifelong friends, walks on the boardwalk with his loving sweetheart Marsha & their dog Sadie, traveling the world, and watching his beloved Phillies, Eagles, and Sixers games with his three boys Matty Evan, and Joey whom he was so very proud of.
No matter the moment and the travel involved Bob always showed up when it mattered. Whether it was a bar mitzvah, birthday party, or big game, he would be there with his infectious smile, loud laughter, and calm demeanor. You could tell by looking into his eyes that he truly cared; he realized what was important in life and has left a lasting legacy to his friends and family. Rest in peace.
