Butch was born December 28, 1938, in Pittsburgh, PA and raised in Upper St. Clair. He is the son of Homer Truesdale and Catherine “Kitty” Truesdale; and grandson to Leon and Edith Truesdale, and Leo and Dottie Sheridan.
He graduated Mt. Lebanon High School; and then Washington & Jefferson College where he majored in psychology and minored in economics and was on the Dean’s List. While attending college he was a member of the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity. He excelled at golf where he lettered and was the captain of the W & J Golf Team. He would go on later in life to compete in many other sports: table tennis, bowling, karate, tennis, football and basketball.
He met Sally Ann Blaine at a W & J fraternity party, and they married on August 19, 1961, in Sally’s hometown of Homer City, PA. Butch, Sally and their two children resided in Bowling Green, OH, Springfield, MA, and Fairfield County, CT (prior to the family relocating to Palm Beach County, FL).
Butch went on to be accepted into the M.A. Program at Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio where he majored in industrial and organizational psychology. After graduation he was assigned to be a commanding officer in the US Army where he served from 1963-1969.

Butch retired in 2014. He continued to be a supportive husband and father, and enjoyed relaxing, watching golf and most of all faithfully cheering on the Steelers, Pirates, and Celtics. Butch also went to great lengths during Sally’s illness to care for her at home. One of his best-known traits was his ability to bring humor into any situation, and he always put family first.
