Born on January 14, 1936, in Manhattan, New York, he spent his early life in the Bronx, New York. He graduated from Columbus High School in the Bronx in 1954. Sid enlisted in the U.S. Navy in March 1957 and actively served through 1959 mostly on the USS Ranger. Sid also spent several years of Naval Reserves duty at the Brooklyn Shipyard. In 1960, Sid started his long career with IBM which lasted 32 years until retirement. Sid started as a service engineer, worked in printers, and ended his career in training.
In 1964 Sid was set up on a blind date through mutual friends with his future wife of over 55 years Gail Kreppel (Schreiber).
Sid is predeceased by his parents Rose and Abe Kreppel and his brother Bernard Kreppel, brothers-in-law Jerry Fuchs and Alan Gross and sisters-in-law Margaret Schreiber and Cecil Fuchs. Sid is survived by his wife Gail Kreppel; sister Marilyn Gross; sister-in-law Becky Kreppel; brother-in-law Lenard Schreiber; daughter Marjorie Kreppel; son Robert Kreppel (Stacy); and grandchildren Jennifer, Andrew, Michael, Eli, Jacob, and Benjamin. Sid also had many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
Sid loved family and was so proud of each of children and grandchildren and all their accomplishments. Sid was also a life master in bridge and was a bridge director for years on cruise ships. Sid also loved traveling to Alaska, which he did over a dozen times. Sid was a Jazz aficionado and his last cruise was one of his many Jazz cruises. Sid loved baked beans, dad jokes, donuts, bargain shopping, fixing things, Sunday morning news programs, dogs, and helping family.
