Sydney M Lowndes

Sydney Macalester Lowndes age 94, a longtime resident of Palm Beach, Florida died peacefully at home on Sunday, August 23, 2015. Mrs. Lowndes was married to her late husband Tasker Gant Lowndes of Baltimore, Maryland until his death in 2006.

Mrs. Lowndes, daughter of Malcolm Sidney Huey and Emily Hibbard Huey of Chestnut Hill, Pennsylvania, was married to Paul Roberts of Villanova, Pennsylvania. He was the father of her three daughters. He died in 1970. Mrs. Lowndes was married to P. Shaw Sprague of Boston, Massachusetts, in 1972 until his death in 1977.

Mrs. Lowndes is survived by her three daughters and three sons-in-law; Mrs. Stanley S. Shuman (Sydney Roberts Shuman) of New York, New York; Mrs. Theodore H. Ashford (Gail Roberts Ashford, “Robin”) of Wilmington, Delaware and Mrs. John J. Slocum, Jr. (Diana Roberts Slocum) of Newport, Rhode Island.

Mrs. Lowndes is also survived by her beloved six grandsons and three granddaughters-in-law: Gordon Roberts Gould (Courtney N. Gould) of Venice, California; Howard Baker Gould of Darien, Connecticut; Forrester Andrew Clark lll (Csilla N. Clark) of Wenham, Massachusetts; Cameron Burrage Clark (Erin M. Clark) of Middletown, Rhode Island; Matthew Roberts Clark of South Hamilton, Massachusetts and Lawrence Lewis Gillespie Slocum of Newport, Rhode Island and seven great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and everyone who knew her.

A member of the Bath and Tennis Club, Mrs. Lowndes was also a member of The Everglades Club and The Society of the Four Arts, Palm Beach.

A private service and burial will be held at a later date.
