Walter J Lang Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Lois, and his two daughters who live in West Palm Beach: Michelle (James) Dunlap and Janelle Lang. He also leaves four grandchildren: David, Steven, Juliana and Laura Dunlap. His sister, Wilma Hively, resides in LeRoy, NY.

Walt was born in Detroit, Michigan and grew up on a farm in Bliss, NY. He married his high school sweetheart, Lois, in 1960. They raised their daughters in Sherrill, NY. Walt was a proud Army veteran whose life career found him engaged in agricultural sales of fertilizer and seeds for several companies in Central New York. He was active in his community with the Rotary Club and leading neighborhood Bible Studies.

Walt loved to tell a good story or elict a smile with a joke. He encouraged his children to pursue their dreams. Most importantly, he taught them to have faith in God. He knew God would lead and provide for them.

In his retirement years, he loved to regale visitors at the Oneida Community Mansion House with stories of the commune’s history. He enjoyed researching the genealogy of the members and descendants of the Community.

Arrangements have been made through Quattlebaum Funeral, Cremation, and Event Center in West Palm Beach, Florida. His family has chosen a private memorial service.

The family would like to thank Walt’s wonderful caretakers on Oncology Floor 4 South of Good Samaritan Hospital and all the dedicated Doctors who helped make major decisions as he fought pancreatic cancer. Our grateful hearts extend special gratitude to Dr. James Harris who cared for him all 9 months and made it possible for us to take care of Walt at home during Hurricane Irma.

Walt had compassion for those cancer patients who could not afford their care or pay for procedures. In his memory donations may be made to Florida Cancer Specialists Foundation. (foundation.flcancer.com).
