

She graduated from Immaculata High School and went onto achieve a degree in nursing. After graduating from D'Youville School of Nursing, she worked as an RN at Roswell Park. She also worked with her husband, the late Dr. Joseph S. Matala, Jr. in his OBGYN office where she taught lamaze classes and was a registered ultrasonographer. She was one of the first registered ultrasonographers in the area. At age 50, she returned to school to receive her nurse practitioner degree in Women's Health. After graduating, she worked at Mercy Hospital's OBGYN Clinic.
Survivors include, 4 daughters; Nadine Marie Matala-Kowalski (Dr. David Kowalski), Dr. Maria Elena Matala-Sullivan (Dr. Michael Sullivan), Michele Ann Matala and Dr. Kara Lee Matala-Anstey (Mr. John C. Anstey), and 5 grandchildren; Meghan Marie Sullivan, Nicholas Matala Kowalski, Caroline Matala Kowalski, Anna Elizabeth Anstey, and Charlotte Elaine Anstey.
Visitation will be on Monday, July 27, 2026 at HOY FUNERAL HOME, 3855 Seneca Street , West Seneca, NY 14224 from 4 pm - 7 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2026 at 10:15 am at Queen of Heaven Church, 839 Mill Rd, West Seneca, NY 14224. Please assemble at church.
