Heath always had a smile on his face whenever I entered the art room. He made me comfortable and happy. I will miss his instruction and also his friendship. I love you Heath, rest in peace. Eric Kurek

As my art teacher and friend, Heath's easy going sense of humor and skilled drawing and painting abilities will never be forgotten. I remember the day before he passed, he made us all laugh by using an art scrap to mimic fuzzy, bushy eyebrows on his face. He had an impromptu ability to feel out a situation and make it fun, relaxing and comfortable, and he was always willing to play and just go with it all and he never held back: he wore his heart on his sleeve. In our lives we will have an empty space that can never be filled by anyone. Heath did his work not just for the money, but for the relationship and for the love of the people and the art. Heath's presence in our lives is irreplaceable. He will be missed.

Heath was an amazing soul. He always had a way to make you smile and laugh. He will be greatly missed by all. He had a wonderful passion for the people he worked with. He always treated them as the person they are and never as just someone with a disability. There are no words to describe the loss we feel here at program. Forever and always in our hearts.

I feel terribly sorry for this loss. Heath was a funny guy with a drawing talent I've never seen before. Amazing. He loved to play music for us when we made art at noon on Thursdays. That was our day. I will forever remember. I believe we have guardian angels watching over us all, and I'd like to tell you that you are in my thoughts and you are loved and watched over and though this is a time to mourn, also know you'll be fine. You have the strength of family. You are not and never will be alone. Heath lives in my heart, and he will live in your heart too.

I will miss this man's sense of humor. It hurts so much to know I won't see him and have his help. Though he was funny and witty, he was kind and sincere to the heart, and a very good art teacher.

Heath helped me so much. We had fun together all the time. He played a character in my movie which was a dream come true. He was a part of that dream for me. Here is a picture of him playing the character in my movie. Heath was a comedian and an actor too. Not just a great great artist. I want to tell you all that he was a great man and a very important part of my life.

Heath did art with me. I called him "DR" (pronounced, "dee ar") as a nick name because saying the word "Heath" is very hard for my speech abilities and saying D.R. is very easy to say. Also, Heath played a Doctor character in a funny video I made. Heath made me laugh every day I spent with him. He still makes me laugh and he always will. Thank you so much DR!

Heath was a very good friend to me. He helped me make artwork that was very important to my sense of self. He was not just a teacher, but an adviser on personal relationships. He helped make the art program what it is today: not just a day program but a family. I'm very sorry for your loss, for our loss, and I want you to know what my friend did for all of us.

From your new Mother-in-law.
In the short time I knew you - way too short I quickly saw the love compassion caring and kind heart you possessed. I knew you & Leah quickly fell in love & shared many wonderful times already. Your genuine love & respect towards Leah will never be forgotten. I am thankful that you were the wonderful man that Leah wanted.
Your love for your 3 children was very evident. They are great kids! They truly love their Dad!
