Janice passed away at the Cleveland Clinic ON September 25, 2018 after a courageous six year battle with brain cancer. Through her perseverance, advocacy and generosity she was a beacon of hope for others facing cancer.
Janice took great pride in being an active member and supporter in the community of cancer patients and survivors. She founded and oversaw operations of the Gray Matters Foundation to raise money for cancer patients. Additionally, she facilitated the DENT brain tumor support group and advocated at the “Head to the Hill” in Washington DC on several occasions to raise funds and awareness for brain cancer research. Her legacy will live on at Roswell Park Cancer Institute where she donated the “Victory Bell” which predominately hangs in the main floor of the hospital. Patients at Roswell Park are encouraged to ring the bell when they finish treatment or receive good news.
Professionally, Janice was a chartered financial consultant for American Portfolios. Personally, she was a long time pianist at Forestville united Methodist church and a Reiki master often offering free healing to anyone with an illness.
Janice loved her family and her friends. She wanted us to remember to take a moment now and then to enjoy the beauty that is around us. She is survived by her beloved husband Michael P. Trudnowski, sister Nancy DiPirro, Steve Laufer, Dave Laufer and Michelle Held, mother to Holly Jacobs and Brandon Bauer, grandmother to Kyle Jacobs, Roman and Ryder Bauer. Family will be present on Monday from 4 to 8 at the Hoy Funeral Home 3855 Seneca St. in West Seneca. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service on Tuesday morning at 11 AM at Saint John’s Lutheran Church 3512 Clinton St., West Seneca. Flowers gratefully decline. Memorials to Roswell Park Cancer Institute are appreciated. Please share condolences www.hoyfuneralhome.com
