BUDNICK - Louis E. Of West Seneca, NY. January 6, 2021. Beloved husband of 41 years to Rose Marie (nee Varela); loving brother of Gloria (the late Francis) Hillman; cherished uncle of Gail (James) Adams, Mark (Diane) Hillman, Wayne Hillman, John Varela, and Linda (Adam) Wychowski; great-uncle of Christopher (Amber) Adams, Sara (Robert) Cornish, Aubrey Hillman, Nicole and Katherine Varela, and Sophia and Samuel Wychowski; great-great uncle of Ryan and Evelyn Adams; brother-inlaw of Noel (Carla Benz) Varela; loved one to much extended family. A true Renaissance man, Lou’s interests ran the gamut from the sciences, music and history to gardening, mushrooming and his great love of the outdoors and travel. From childhood on, his home away from home was Allegany State Park, camping with family and friends. Perhaps best known as a truly exceptional cook who could turn nature’s bounty into masterpieces even on a camp stove, he was devoted to passing on his family’s traditions and recipes to new generations. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. In honor of his service to others over 33 years as a research scientist and building manager at Roswell Park, memorials may be made to Roswell Park Alliance Foundation. Arrangements by HOY FUNERAL HOME. Online condolences may be shared at www.hoyfuneralhome.com

Dear Rose,
I would like to express my sincere condolences to you on the passing of Lou. He always came through for us whenever we needed his help and guidance for any lab business. Our building was a constant challenge and not many could hold-up to it and deliver under such circumstances. And he did it professionally and with a smile. Norm Angelino
