

Born on April 16, 1947, in Flushing, New York, Nancy grew up in Queens, where she developed the strength, compassion, and deep sense of family that would guide her throughout her life. In 1965 she married William “Bill” Piskothy, beginning a loving partnership that spanned nearly six decades. Together, they raised their children Corinne, Scott, and Robert whom they nurtured with unwavering love and dedication. Nancy and Bill remained inseparable until his passing in 2022.
Nancy is survived by her children Corinne (James) Kaufmann, William Scott (Elizabeth) Piskothy, and Robert (Tara) Piskothy; grandchildren Ryan Kaufmann, Steven (Madeleine) Kaufmann, Lauren (Duncan Macfarlane) Piskothy, Jenna Piskothy, Nicolas Piskothy, Ryker Piskothy, and Jaxon Piskothy.
She is also survived by her brothers, Douglas (Janet) and Arthur (DeeDee) Stephan, who shared in her life’s journey with affection and support.
She was predeceased by her parents Arthur and Margaret Stephan, and sister Marilyn Stephan.
Nancy and Bill made their home in various communities across New York. They met and began their marriage in Flushing and later resided in several Long Island locations including Little Neck, Commack, and Mount Sinai. For the last 19 years, Nancy lived in Elma, where she remained close to family and embraced the quiet joys of everyday life.
Nancy worked for many years as a Practice Plan Manager for the New York State Research Foundation at Stony Brook University Hospital, a role she approached with diligence and care. In 2004, she was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma and underwent a stem cell transplant at New York Presbyterian Hospital. Nancy was fortunate to become one of the longest survivors of the disease. Though Nancy was eventually declared cancer free, the disease later resulted in additional complications that led to kidney failure. In 2020, she received a successful kidney transplant and continued to face her health challenges with grace and resilience.
Despite the many medical trials she endured over the last two decades, Nancy’s life was defined not by illness but by love. Her devotion to her family was the constant thread that ran through every chapter of her life. She and Bill were avid and faithful fans at their children’s and grandchildren’s activities and thoroughly enjoyed celebrating milestones and cherishing everyday moments. Nancy focused the last 19 years of her life devoting her time to her family, cooking and baking for those that she loved. Nancy cherished traveling south where her family would often vacation at Orange Lake Resort in Orlando, FL. Nancy joyfully shared stories of her grandchildren to her friends and family reflecting the love, pride, and joy that she had in her family.
Nancy will be remembered for her strength, her warmth, and the profound love she gave to those around her. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of her family, who will forever cherish the memories of her laughter, kindness, and unwavering presence.
