Richard Gray Schultz of West Seneca, New York passed away March 1, 2025 at the age of 95.
Dick was born in Amsterdam, NY the son of Charles F. and Marion Bishop Schultz and grew up in Fort Johnson, NY. After graduation from high school he attended SUNY College of Environment and Forestry in Syracuse with the dream of becoming a Park Ranger. After graduation, Dick served two years in the US Army.
Dick worked for Heath Survey Consultants for ten years before starting a 20-year career with National Fuel Gas. He was thrilled to begin his retirement early in 1987. He served Meals on Wheels and read to the visually impaired via radio broadcast for several years during retirement. Dick was a smart, curious individual who enjoyed nature, gardening and the clever use of language and words.
Dick was a parishioner at Trinity Lutheran Church and served as a deacon for many years.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 68 years, Helen Miller Schultz; a sister, Dorothy Milnyczuk; and a son-in-law, Keith Borchert.
Survivors include his three daughters Diane Powell, Linda (Doug Smith) Borchert and Carol (Fred) Grossi; six grandchildren Karen, Andrea, Steven, Jessica, Caitlin and April; three great grandchildren Hannah, Juliet, and Eliana, and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank The Greenfields Continuing Care Community for their kind and gentle care throughout the past few years.
Services will be held privately for the family.
