Sandy was a warm hearted and well liked individual, and these wonderful traits came easily to her because she was such a sociable and likeable person with the gift of gab. She made sure to engage all those around her in conversation. She will be missed tremendously.
She was born on November 13, 1948 and was the daughter of Edward and Grace Brown. Sandy was raised in Amherst, NY. Her father passed away when she was 28, and her mother remained a pillar of strength and friendship and shared a lifelong bond, until she passed in 2002.
Sandy has one older sister, Joan Pajerski. Although separated by distance later in life, their sisterly connections remained throughout the years in each other's lives. They made sure holidays were a special time for each other. Sandy was also very fond of her niece, Jennifer Schultz, and maintained a caring relationship with her throughout the years.
Sandy married the love of her life, Craig Rebman, on April 1, 1977, having a beautiful ceremony in the home they purchased the year before. They filled the house with joy, love, and made many memories.
Sandy had one child and was blessed with her daughter, Amanda, in 1980. Amanda and her husband, Dan, who Sandy loved and respected deeply, married in 2003. They moved to Arizona in 2005. She has two grandchildren, Emma, 13 and Alex, 11 and had developed a loving relationship with them. Amanda and Sandy shared a unique, unbreakable bond. Their love and devotion to each other was genuine. The grandkids will always remember Christmas's, birthdays, and family traditions like football and kickball tournaments played with "Nana" and "Papa". For 14 years, Sandy and Craig traveled frequently to their second home in Arizona bringing love and support. The memories made were priceless, and will live forever in the hearts of their family.
Sandy took a lot of pride in her work and was a people-person. After graduating high school, she worked as an administrator in the Department of Education at SUNY Buffalo until she started her family. In order to be closer to home, Sandy joined Cy's Elma Pharmacy where she worked as the office manager until she retired. Sandy was acting president of Specialty Erectors Co., Inc. As president, she developed strong friendships and touched the lives of all that worked for her, including many employees from Alp Steel. She most enjoyed spending time with her husband Craig, cooking him his favorite meals, shopping, reading, bowling, playing games and cards with family, playing online games such as Words with Friends and 4 Pics 1 Word with her grandchildren.
Sandy enjoyed playing sports throughout her life including basketball (which she passed on to her grandson), tennis, golf, hiking, and most of all bowling. She frequently bowled in tournaments at Transit lanes, Broadway lanes, and Airport lanes, which brought her great joy.
Religion and faith were a cornerstone of Sandy's life. She was a member of Ebenezer United Church of Christ.
Sandy was a lover of animals and cherished her pets. One of her favorites was Fluffy, an abandoned cat that came to the house and stayed, who was a best friend for 10 years, and Lady, a toy poodle who was sassy but loyal to her.
Sandy passed away in her sleep on February 21, 2019 peacefully in her home. She is survived by her devoted husband Craig, daughter Amanda and son-in-law Dan, grandchildren Emma and Alex, dear loving family and friends Babs and Jim Brown, and sister Joan Pajerski and her caring partner Jim Labenski. Services are held at Hoy Funeral Home.
Sandy was a wonderful conversationalist who could engage just about anyone in a discussion. Sandy was a down to earth person, outgoing and gregarious. Everyone whose life she touched, no matter when it was in your life, will miss and remember Sandy.
