Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend, Andrew Junior Anderson died on September 22, 2020 from natural causes. Born on April 1, 1930 in Salt Lake City, UT, Andy was the firstborn child of Andrew Peter Anderson and Lillian Smith. After losing his hearing from Scarlet fever at age 5, and having no sign language schools in the state, his angel mother spent much of her time working to make sure he received lip-reading classes to assure he got a good education. He graduated from Granite High School and later graduated from Stevens–Henager College.
He met and then married Ruth Claire Knowles on June 5, 1952 in the Salt Lake Temple and had 6 children. Ruth later died of cancer after 38 years of marriage. Andy was blessed again when he met and then married Janet Faye Bowman on April 20, 1990 in the Jordan River Temple and they were married over 30 years at the time of his passing. She brought with her 4 children to complete the family. He was a wonderful husband and put his wife above all else. To his dying moment, he wanted Jan by his side, holding his hand.
He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings throughout his life. Andy spent 34 years working at the Utah State Parks and Recreation Division as controller and other administrative roles.
His family and friends will always have memories of his quick smile, sharp wit, and funny sayings. Always fast with a tease or a joke, he loved to make others laugh. He loved to tickle his grandchildren until they begged for mercy and made each one feel special. He loved to watch western movies, golf with his brother, Bob, and sit with his wife by his side while sipping his Diet Coke and snacking on Hershey chocolate bars or chocolate chip cookies.
He is survived by his wife Janet F. Anderson, son Barry (Kellee) Anderson, daughter Julene (Kevin) Mathews, daughter Becky (Bruce) Robison, son Brian (Michelle) Anderson, daughter Susan (Bill) Fisk, son-in-law (Harvey) Christoffersen, son Shane Tisdale, daughter Dana (Mike) Maez, daughter Teresa (John) McElprang, daughter Jean (Karl) Rasmussen, 41 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren and 2 more on the way. Preceded in death by his wife Ruth Claire Knowles, his daughter Robyn Christoffersen, and his brother Robert Anderson.
