Our beloved mother, Audrey Ann Miller, passed away Sunday morning, June 24th, surrounded by her loving children Tim and Anita and her grandson Brandon, who have tenderly cared for her in their home most of this last year...
It was a sweet release for Audrey who waited until her son Terry had called and assured her of his love before she passed away. Audrey was born August 3, 1933. Her dedicated mother, Velma, raised her in Douglas and then Casper, Wyoming, where she explored with her sister and constant companion in mischief, Ruth. Audrey graduated from the University of Utah with a teaching degree and then married the love of her life, Tom, in 1955. Tom and Audrey had an immense capacity of genuine love and care for others. They soon adopted 4 children and Audrey threw herself into mothering and teaching and loving their children. Audrey made her choice to serve God at a very young age. She and Tom faithfully followed the teachings of Christ, sharing their faith and joy with their family and friends as well as nurturing the little fellowship meeting that met in their home for 25 years. They took special interest in Mexico where Tom’s sister, Martha, was working to share the gospel story, and they were very helpful and beloved by their friends there.
After their children left home, Audrey went back to teaching for the next 23 years. Audrey taught several different grades and then settled on the 4th grade which she taught for the last 15 years until her retirement at which time she dedicated herself to the care of Tom who suffered from Alzheimer’s. After Tom passed away, Audrey moved to Greystone in Cottonwood where she had a lovely welcoming home and where she lived next door to her sister Ruth. They had many adventures together and made some treasured friends at Greystone.
Audrey was preceded in death by her beloved husband Tom, her sister Ruth and brother David, and her grandson Nathan. Audrey is survived by her children, Loma Sue (Lou) Baughman, Jeannie (Lynn) Barnard, Terry Miller, and Tim (Anita) Miller. Audrey has 8 grandchildren; Kenny, Nathan, Brandon, Billy, Kim, Heather, Tammy and Troy. She also has 8 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews she cherished, as well as her beloved sisters-in-law Marjorie and Viva. The twinkle is gone from her eyes but Audrey will forever be remembered for her sparkling eyes and smiles and her constant cheer and optimism. She truly loved life and the people she shared it with.
Audrey's funeral will be this Saturday, June 30th at 10 am with a viewing from 9-9:45 prior to funeral as well as Friday evening from 6-8 at the Valley View Funeral Home which is located at 4100 South 4335 West in West Valley City, Utah.
