It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara Jean (Price) McKee on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at the age of 71, from complications of cancer. Barbara was born on October 25, 1953, in Arcadia, CA to James McCoy Price and Hildeguard Ann Jochim Price. She was the 5th of 7 children; Cynthia (Price) Sovick, Michael Price, Jacqueline (Price) Schueller, David Price, Barbara Price McKee, James Price, and Kevin Price.
After graduating from Savanah High School, Barbara went on to work as a Nursing assistant for several years in Anaheim, CA. in the 1970’s. There, Barbara made numerous friends due to her sweet natured personality and kindhearted nature. While working as a nursing assistant, Barbara would win awards for her service and kindness in caring for others.
Barbara met the love of her life, Carl Ernest McKee, and they were wed in March of 1993. Barbara and Ernie shared 13 loving years together before his passing in 2007. Barbara was known for her strong will, unwavering determination, and love and support for her family and friends. She was a devout believer in her Savior, Jesus Christ, and our Lord God.
Barbara lived her life the best she knew how, through generosity, kindness, and love. Barbara spent many of her years doing crafts like knitting, making trinkets, and making costume jewelry. She would often donate or give these creations to friends, family, or someone in need. She loved completing her dot-to-dot books and watching her favorite televisions shows while relaxing in her rocking chair.
To Barbara, family and friends were the center of her world. She always wanted to know how you were and what you were doing. Barbara cared deeply for each of her family members and paid special attention to each of them. Each of us has our own fond, and favorite, memory together with Barbara, and we all have our favorite family memories together with Barbara.
As with family and friends, Barbara had a soft spot for animals in need, especially cats. Barbara never met an animal she did not love or adore. She would get such joy when one of her cats, or someone else’s, would jump on her lap and snuggle with her.
Barbara is preceded in death by her husband, Carl Ernest McKee; her parents James McCoy Price and Hildeguard Ann (Jochim) Price; and her siblings Cynthia (Price) Sovick and Michael Price. She is survived by her sister Jacqueline (Dan) Schueller; her brothers, David (Denise) Price, James Price, Kevin (Thembi) Price, and many nieces and nephews.
Barbara will be interred with her husband, Carl Ernest McKee, at Barrancas National Cemetery, in Pensacola, FL. on July 24, 2025, at 10:30 am. Those wishing to attend must be vetted and will need to arrive at the vetting center a minimum of an hour prior to the services. If you would like to support Barbara or honor her, please make a donation to a local animal shelter to help those animals in need that she loved so much. A private celebration of life will be held in Barbara’s honor at a later date.
The family would like to give special thanks to all the physicians, nurses, and caregivers at Loma Linda hospital and cancer center, Dignity Home and Hospice and all others that helped take care of Barbara during the last few years as she fought valiantly.
