Bernard Reid

1922-2014

The 5th of June was both a day of Joy and of sadness as Bernie completed his 92 year mission here in mortality. He was born in Myton, Duchesne Co., Utah on March 15, 1922 to Parley McFarland Reid and Cassidy Beatrice Tanner. Bernie, along with his 5 siblings grew up on the family farm in Tabiona, Utah. He graduated from Tabiona High school and went on to graduate from the College of Eastern Utah in Price with an Associates Degree in welding. He enlisted in the Navy in 1942 and served until after the wars end in 1946. He married Gertrude Marie Rourke McCauley on 7 September 1956. He worked for the Eaton Metal Products Company in SLC as a welder until his retirement. He was preceded in death by both parents, his wife Trudy, brother Gerald, brothers-in-law Paul Ritzman and Jack Josie, sisters Genial McLaughlin and Georgia Ritzman. He is survived by his brother John A. Reid (Nola), sister Gwen Josie, stepsons Robert C. McCauley (Shirley), Donald K. McCauley (Bonnie), 9 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. He leaves a great void in our lives and will be sorely missed.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00, Friday, June 13, at Valley View Funeral Home, 4335 West 4100 South, West Valley City. Friends may visit the family beginning at 9:30. Internment: Valley View Memorial Park.
