Bernice H. Slick

Bernice Zula Hanks Cox Slick, 91, of Vernal, Utah passed away November 22, 2014 at Ashley Regional Medical Center in Vernal, Utah surrounded by her loving family. Bernice was born February 11, 1923 to Perry Adelbert Hanks and Iva Gladys Golllaher Hanks. Bernice attended Cyprus High School in Magna, Utah and graduated in 1942. Bernice was a member of the LDS Church. In the 1960's, Bernice worked as a Manager for Crossroads Restaurant and was a Manager of the restaurant at the Hotel Utah. Bernice left the restaurant industry in 1970 and went to work for the Salt Lake County Recorders office as a Platter where she retired in 1989.Bernice is survived by her 5 children, Marylynn (Bill) Hand of Meridian, MS, George Christopher Cox, Texarkana, TX, Delbert Ray Cox, UT, Ralph Edward (Kimberly) Cox, Fallbrook, CA, Barbara Jean (Blaine) Watson, UT. Stepsons and stepdaughters, Dennis (Linda) Slick, UT, Robert (Laura) Slick, UT, Linda (Blaine) McDonald, UT, John (Colleen) Thistle, UT. Bernice has 13 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. Bernice was preceded in death by her mother and father, husband's, George Christopher Cox and James Elwood Slick; grandson, Travis Jenkins; brothers, Mart Hanks, Floyd Hanks, Bud Hanks; and sister, Iva Steck.Memorial services will be held Saturday, November 29, 2014 at 1:00 PM at Jenkins-Soffe Funeral Chapel, 4760 South State Street, Murray, Utah, with a visitation prior from 12-12:50 p.m. Interment service will be at Valley View Cemetery, 4335 West 4100 South, West Valley City, Utah immediately following the memorial service.
