Our beloved Brady Michael Shepherd, was tragically taken from his family in a car accident on February 3, 2017. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on September 19, 1983 to Barbara and Michael Shepherd. Brady attended Kearns High School and Salt Lake Community College. He leaves behind his precious young daughters, Taycie and McKenzie Shepherd; the love of his life Danielle Watts Shepherd, married June 10, 2011; parents, Mike Shepherd (Blythe), Barbara Shepherd; siblings, Carrie Shepherd, Brian Shepherd (Gayle) and their four daughters, Scott Shepherd and his daughter, and many in-laws and friends who cherished him.
Brady recently began a new journey working as a plumber’s apprentice for Koch Mechanical, and going to school part time to advance his career. He quickly made strong friendships at Koch and enjoyed the work he was doing. He also worked part time at Riverwalk Vapors to support his many hobbies.
Though Brady had a laid back and quiet persona, he was a powerhouse of a man, deeply believing in the motto “DON’T TRY, JUST DO IT!” He was a tireless worker and voice for those without a voice. He was the creator and Founder of NO STORY LEFT UNTOLD, a website dedicated to the survivors of suicide, and its prevention. This site, a no-judgment safe haven, was inspired after the loss of his best friend, his sister Marci, in 2008. He believed in turning a negative situation in his life into a positive, and supported AFSP at their Sugarhouse walks and fund raisers.
Brady had a passion for sports and music, and he found joy in the simplest things. There was never a quiet moment at home while Brady was there. He was dedicated to his family, and his devotion to his daughters was demonstrated through selfless acts like driving a total of four hours to see them on their first day of school each year.
Brady had the biggest of hearts. All would say ‘he would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need.’ This statement, a true reflection of Brady, would also give him an opportunity to expose his love of tattoos, he loved this skillful art, and wore it proudly.
Brady lived in a big way, our loss of him happened in a big way, no time for goodbyes or regrets. Brady and Danielle were devoted to one another, and supported each other’s dreams. Danielle will be comforted by his sweet Facebook posts, leaving little doubt of his deep and everlasting love for her and his girls; his pride and joy. We will forever keep him in our hearts, and may we all feel him near.
A Celebration of Brady’s Life will be held on Wednesday, February 8th from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Valley View Memorial Park, 4335 West 4100 South, West Valley City, Utah.
