

He was born in Logan, Utah and grew up in Sunset and Kaysville, where he attended Davis High School graduating in 1972. He served an LDS mission in the Midwestern states. He worked for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints for 26 years. He married Janine Agnes Kirby on May 5, 1982 in the Salt Lake Temple.
He was a kind man of great faith who liked doing genealogy. He loved to talk to people and hear their stories. He had an amazing ability to remember names and dates. He loved to read. He also liked sports and was a Jazz fan.
He is survived by his wife Janine Agnes Nichols, sons: Spencer Nichols, Gordon (Samantha) Nichols, siblings: Jane (Richard) Anderson, Marianne (Cal) Springer, Ken (Julie) Nichols, Wayne (Denise) Nichols, Natalie Nicolls, Patricia (Joe) Swenson, Bonnie (Tom) LeFevre, and grandsons: Braedon James Nichols and Gunnar Roy Nichols. He is preceded in death by his parents.
The viewings and funeral will be held at the LDS chapel located at 6710 West 4145 South, West Valley City, Utah. Viewings will be on Monday, September 30, 2019 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM and on Tuesday, October 1 from 9:00 – 10:30 AM. The funeral will follow at 11:00 AM. Interment will be at the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
