Calvin Lee Bertelsen passed away on January 21, 2022, at the age of 70 in the comfort of his home in West Valley City, Utah. His battle with serious medical issues in recent years showed his courage in facing life's challenges with a smile. Despite the pain, Calvin never stopped fighting. He came out a hero and stayed strong until his very last breath.
At the age of 15 Calvin met the love of his life, Netta Bertelsen. After a few years of chasing and pursuing from both sides they were married and enjoyed 50 years together filled with love, laughter, and passion.
Calvin lives within his wife, Netta Bertelsen; his eldest son, Cory Bertelsen; his daughter, Kallie Kennington; his son-in-law, Ren Kennington; and his son, Cody Bertelsen, which he shared his love of fishing, camping, trips to Wendover and travelling. Calvin worked countless hours to ensure his families security. He never failed to provide and was the best father anyone could have ask for.
Calvin lives within his siblings, Kim Cody, and Cathy Anderson. He is preceded in death by, his mother, Emma Hoskins, his father, Jay Hoskins, and his brother, Michael Hoskins.
Calvin has six Grandchildren: Shaylee, Brooklee, Shyann, Colby, Braxton, and Ariyana. Nothing brought him more joy than teaching them how to do all the things he loved like fishing and building. He was always making sure they were safe and secure. Calvin prioritized his grandchildren, they held his heart and soul.
Calvin had a way with people, he never shied away from giving help to anyone in need whether it be a tool to borrow, a helping hand or a much-needed father figure to many. He touched the lives of everyone he encountered. Calvin left an everlasting impression and will never be forgotten.
A viewing will be held at 1:00 P.M and a funeral service will follow at 2:00 P.M on January 28th, 2022, at Valley view Funeral home 4335 W 4100 S, West Valley City, UT 84120. Burial will be held at Herriman City Cemetery located at 12465 S Pioneer Street (6000 West). We will then have a Celebration of life to Honor Calvin following the burial at the Fraternal Order of Eagles located at 1104 West 2100 South, Salt Lake City, UT 84119.
