Calvin Reid Petersen, after what seemed to be the longest fourteen days of his life, was reunited with the "love of his life." We believe that Olive Bawden Petersen (mom) returned his phone call and accepted him with loving, open arms as he peacefully transitioned from this mortal life on October 8, 2015 to continue their eternal journey together. Their "The Real Love Story" began when dad was bitten by the virally contagious "love bug" sixty-six years ago, and their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. He so treasured the many recent tender moments he was able to share with his loving children; Steve (Julie), Sharon (Kent) Tate, Jeff (Corbie), Guy, and Joni (Brent) Thomas along with his 30 beautiful grandchildren and 33 fantastic great grandchildren. He was so proud of his family. He considered it a priceless privilege to be called dad and grandpa.
Reid began his ambitious life on September 27, 1930 as the youngest son of Calvin Nelson and Elizabeth Lambert Petersen joining Noalen, Blanche, Faye, Beulah, Darrell, and Elaine. Growing up as a loving family in Granger, Utah was a daily adventure. He loved the relationships that were awarded him as he tenaciously served others. His many years serving as Bishop and in the Stake Presidency being two of his most cherished callings. His loving kindness was always reciprocated by those he served.
Although Dad never acquired a taste for olives in life, "His Olive" rocked his world. As he always did, we're assured with certainty that he's continuing with preparations for the return of his family. Till we meet again, God be with you. We love you Dad and Grandpa.
