Calvin “Cal” Youngreen, age 73, beloved husband, father and friend ended his brief but valiant battle with cancer on Tuesday, April 10. Karen, his wife of 52 years, was by his side to the end.
Cal was born in Salt Lake City, June 9, 1938 to Calvin Maynard Youngreen and Norma Gleave Youngreen. Married Karen Sandra Theobold May 29, 1959. A lifelong resident of Hunter, Cal proudly served in the US Army 1957-59. Retired from Kennecott after 41 years of dedicated service. Was a former member of the Granger Jaycee’s and served as past President of the Hunter Lions. Coached Hunter baseball teams to championships.
Cal shared many passions during his life. He grew up farming and took great pride in maintaining his equipment and working the land until his passing. Cal enjoyed many years of camping and boating in local reservoirs and later embarked on several cruises with Karen. Cal found new passions in retirement restoring several trucks and tractors for his private collection. Cal was a member of ATHS and took his award winning trucks and tractors to many shows locally and nationally. Cal was currently serving as V.P. of the Rocky Mountain Chapter of ATHS, and a member of the Utah Antique Machinery Association.
Cal was a kind and courteous man whose generosity and positive spirit will be deeply missed by those who knew him.
Cal is survived by his loving wife, Karen; three children, Bob, David (Claudia) and Teresa, and brother, Tom (Jayleen) Giovengo.
Funeral Services for Cal will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Valley View Funeral Home, 4335 W. 4100 So. The family will receive friends at a visitation Friday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at Valley View Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Interment: Valley View Memorial Park.
