Chad grew up in Granger, Utah (now West Valley City), where he graduated from Granger High School. He lived in West Valley City for most of his life while raising his sons. He was loved and admired by his friends and family. He had a great love for music and a talent that was greater. He worked at Swire Coca-Cola in IT for many years, but after the work day was done he was home playing his guitar. On weekends, he loved performing with the band, “Jana and the Rebels”. The people in this band were his second family. He was a quiet and solitary man with a caring heart, and fiercely loyal to those he loved.
Chad, have fun making music on the other side. Until we meet again.
He is survived by his parents: Preston Shockley of South Jordan, Utah and Verna Lee Smith of St. George, Utah; son: Derek Shockley of West Valley City, Utah; his siblings: Charise (LaVal) Voss of St. George, Utah, and Kenda (Gary) Montanez of West Jordan, Utah; and his granddaughter, Emily.
He was preceded in death by his son, Dagen Shockley; his grandparents, Aubrey and Ruth Shockley, and Vern and Wilma Lott.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday October 4, 2025; 2:00 p.m. at Valley View Memorial Park in West Valley City, Utah.
