Our Hero, Charles Howell, passed away Tuesday February 19th surrounded by his devoted family and friends. Chuck was born in Lansing, MI on February 15, 1942 to Madeline and Howard Howell. He shared his childhood with three siblings Peggy, Howard and Barbara.
A man of many nick-names, Charlie touched the lives of everyone he met. Charles never hesitated to lend a helping hand and will always be remembered as a very generous man. He was fascinated by the world and wanted to learn as much as he could about it. Serving his country proudly in the United States Marine Corp. he was able to travel and explore many parts of the world.
Charlie has always been a hard worker dedicating over 40 years to the Union Pacific Rail Road. During that time he met several of his lifelong friends.
Family was the most important thing to him. He is survived by his wife of 42 years Mary Jo Howell, his sister Peggy McMillan his nieces and nephews residing in Michigan, his children; Deborah and Raymond Josley, Anthony Howell, Victoria and Lynn Hauserman, Peggy and Stephen Berger, and twins Gerald Howell, and Carrie Howell, as well as 13 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.
The family wishes to express their heart-felt gratitude to Dr. James C. Stringham and the entire ICU staff at Salt Lake Regional Medical Center for their compassion and dedication in the care of our father in his final days.
Charles will be missed by all that knew him. Services will be held Friday February 22nd at 1:00 PM at Valley View Memorial Park located at 4335 W. 4100 S. West Valley City, UT. A viewing will be held prior to the services starting at 12:00 PM. www.valleyviewfuneral.com
