Concepcion Zamora

Connie passed away on July 6, 2026 peacefully, surrounded by her loving family. Born January 5, 1939 to Lucas and Concepcion Zamora in Uvalde, Texas, she was one of 10 children. Connie grew up in the Texas Hill Country, where she grew a love of all sports, especially baseball, and she relished the Mexican culinary delicacies of her family as well as anything that contained pecans.

Connie moved to Salt Lake City in 1962 where she worked as a phlebotomist for Dr Clarke. She retired in the early 2000’s, and stayed home for several years. She then began working as a school librarian for Granite School District until her second retirement in 2020. As an avid reader herself, she loved interacting with the kids in the library, encouraging them to develop a love of reading.

Connie never got a driver license, but that didn’t stop her from getting anywhere in Salt Lake on a UTA bus, where she took her many nieces and nephews all around the valley for various events and activities.

Connie held a special place in her heart for children. Although she never had children of her own, Connie was known for her incredible love for her many nieces and nephews, including those she adopted along the way. She did anything to make her kids happy. Whether it was tea parties, getting them their favorite treats or snacks, trips to Downtown ZCMI and Crossroads malls, or watching their favorite shows, Connie would do it all to make her kids smile. Anything Connie did she put a loving personal touch on, with her homemade party decorations she printed out and colored, hung on the walls every birthday to ensure that you knew she was celebrating you.

Connie was an avid sports fan of BYU, the Utah Jazz, the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Yankees; she did truly bleed blue. She could tell you the date, time and channel that her teams were playing on and made sure to share that with those she loved. If you ever sat through a game you were sure to hear her say, “Aww, Come-on” when she didn’t like a call. In later years, as Connie’s memory began to wane, she would sometimes forget things, but she never forgot to watch her teams play.

Connie is the last of her immediate family to go to the pearly gates. She is preceded in death by her parents, Lucas and Concepcion Zamora, siblings Soila, Lucas Jr., Asencio, Beatrice, Victoria, Catalina, Feliz, Ophelia, Juanita and honorary brothers Arturo and Abelino. She is survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews from Texas, Michigan, California, Florida and Utah whom she loved and cherished dearly.

The family would like to thank her many caregivers over the last 3 years, especially her nurse Kylee, and to the Valeo Hospice Staff.

Graveside services to lay Connie and Janie in their final resting place will be held August 21st, 2026, at 3pm at Valley View Memorial Park in West Valley City.
