Born February 18, 1959, and died on March 12, 2025, in an automobile accident. Dale was born to Elwin Dale Hitesman Sr. and Mary Louise Hall. He grew up in the Magna area and was a proud Cyprus Pirate.
Dale enlisted into the Marine Corps and proudly served his country. He was a recipient of the Meritorious Mast and Good Conduct Medal, an expert with a rifle and a pistol marksman, and he received badges for both.
During this time, he met his wife, Barbara Jo (Scott) BJ. After a quick love affair, they were married on June 20, 1979. After they had gotten married, they returned to the West Valley area, where they raised their three children together.
When he left the military, he started a life in law enforcement as an animal control officer for Sandy City, then briefly working at Hercules, moving onto the Salt Lake County Constable’s, and finally and proudly opening his own business in Private Investigations.
Dale loved serving his community as a Boy Scout leader for Troop 3811. He also helped coach little league football for Cyprus and Granger, as well as many other football programs, but his home was always where his boys were. He was probably most widely known as “Coach.”
Dale loved spending time at his cabin in Manila, Utah, and spending time with his friends and family. Dale's favorite pastime was trying to throw people off the inner tube into the water. Dale loved being the life of the party, and there wasn’t a dad joke out there that he didn’t love. “I will fight you with my bear hands…” Dale would have even made a joke about the fact he stopped traffic Wednesday afternoon.
Dale is survived by his wife Barbara Jo Hitesman, children Brandy (Kyler) Larson, and Shelly Cheyenne Hitesman. Grandchildren Layne Larson, Bowen (Kadence) Larson, Aaron (Xochi) Larson, Tyler Forsgren, Nicky "Dale" Hitesman, Austyn Hitesman, Brooklyn Hitesman, Dallas Hitesman, Rayden Merrill, and Sayge Merrill. He has also left behind many adopted children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Siblings Vicky Hitesman, Robert (Donna) Hitesman, Kathy (Kevin) Bringhurst, and Lorrie (Steve) Glahe
He is preceded in death by his son Elwin Dale Hitesman III, Father Elwin Dale Hitesman Sr., Mother Mary Hitesman, his Brother Kenny Hitesman, and many others
He will be greatly missed. We all love you, Dad, Poppy, Santa, Coach, Baby.
