

Dan was born in Steubenville Ohio on May 19th 1975 to James Albert O'Dell and Ethel Sara O'Dell (both deceased) . He is survived by his brother Chris O'Dell of West Valley, Sister Lori Cheshire of West Valley, Brother-in-law Ken Cheshire of Riverdale, Niece Abigail Cheshire of West Valley, Sister-in-law Lisa O'Dell of Florida and his friend for life Daniel Haley of West Valley.
"Dan the Pickle Man", "Stud Muffin", "Uncle Dan Dan" and of course part of "the Dans" were just a few of his favorite nicknames. Dan was the epitome of innocence and pure joy. Dan lived his life with no regret but full of laughter and fun. He enjoyed his Hartvigsen Huskie Family teammates, coaches and best friends on and off the field whether it was competing or Volunteering. He loved helping achieve a silver medal at the soccer tournament with his coaches on the side.
Dan loved helping and cheering on fellow competitors with Special Olympics Utah no matter if a team finished first or last. He loved competing and volunteering alongside Abby and Chris. He was always willing to show up to an event to help set-up before competing and staying later with clean-up. Dan made sure everyone was noticed and felt welcomed. Dan enjoyed his trips to Connecticut, New York, Boston and even Australia for dream ride Hometown foundation) where he made many friends.
Dan will always be my protector and I will miss my sneak attack back hugs where your head always ended up on my shoulder. No looking for girls up in heaven.
I love you Dan and will see you again someday! From your little and younger sister Lori. Abigail will miss and always remember her funny funny clown and she will always be your evil witch and bug. Services will be held Saturday May 2, 2026, viewing will be 9:30 am to 11:00 am and graveside services immediately after at Valley View memorial Park and Funeral home at 4335 w 4100 s WVC, Utah. In lieu of flowers please consider supporting the organizations that made such a life changing difference for Dan. You can support either monetarily or in person to Special Olympics Utah, (sout.org) by volunteering and supporting all the wonderful athletes just like Dan. Also, you can support the Dream ride (Hometown foundation) that also gave Dan all the wonderful memories and new experiences that he absolutely loved and cherished.
